Here are a few suggestions to help you put together a prayer guide of your own:
- Use pictures from your youth ministry. You’ll want to make sure you have parents’ permission to use any pictures of their child(ren) in the prayer guide.
- Have other parents contribute to the parent devotional. This gets parents involved and gives them ownership over the prayer guide. It also may help them get excited to share the prayer guide with others in the church that may not be involved in the youth ministry. One word of caution here, empower one or two parents to oversee the prayer guide project. Entrust them to come up with the topics and guidelines for the prayer guide. Otherwise, each parent may have their own “great idea” that may not line up with the overall goal of the prayer guide.
- Get your senior pastor involved. If you can get your senior pastor’s involvement, there’s more of an opportunity to share the prayer devotional with the entire church and have them praying for your youth ministry as well. If possible, encourage a few of your parents to share with the church the impact that the prayer guide had on their family.
